Current Situation
Tourism revenues declined 3.3 per cent in 2019 mainly on lower non-resident visitation to Nova Scotia. Though tourism revenues had grown in each of the last three years, this pace of growth is not enough to meet the 2024 target of $4 billion. From the 2010 baseline of $2.02 billion, Nova Scotia tourism revenues have increased by 30.8 per cent to $2.64 billion in 2019. Tourism revenues were strongly affected by travel restrictions in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
